KHARDI.
Khardi, about twelve miles north-east of Shahapur, is a station on
the north-east branch of the Peninsula railway. The station traffic returns show an increase in passengers from 8500 in 1873 to 16,096 in 1880, and in goods from 796 to 2537 tons. In 1827 Clunes notices Khardi as a market town and a usual halting-place with seventy-five houses, three shops, several wells, and a fine grove of trees. [Itinerary, 51.]
